About the Business

Ron Finemore Transport (RFT), a nationally recognised, regional transport and logistics business servicing the Eastern States of Australia. Established in 2004 to meet the road freight needs of regional industries and communities, RFT has grown into a leading company of over 800 people with more than 270 trucks on the road.  A strong, values-based company, RFT people are dedicated to providing safe, cost effective and reliable delivery of food and fuel products into our local communities.

About the Role 

In this role you will be a key member of the finance team and responsible for using your financial accounting experience to ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual financial obligations are met. 

You will have shared responsibilities for financial reporting and analytics, statutory reporting, payroll and AR relief, annual audits and other financial duties including tasks along the lines of: 

  • Preparation of Monthly Accounts and meeting month-end deadlines
  • Complete monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Carry out investigation and corrective actions
  • Investigate fluctuations in monthly wage and on-costs
  • Reconcile payroll system to general Ledger each month
  • Processing of monthly Payroll tax returns
  • Reconcile and report on fuel usage
  • Reconcile and report on fleet repairs and maintenance
  • Provide relief support for other financial functions within the team
  • Experience in transportation or similar is desirable though not essential.

This is a permanent, full-time role reporting to the Financial Controller, and is based at our head office in Wodonga, VIC. 

About You

You have built up a strong foundation in your finance accounting career and have worked for at least the last 5 years in a similar corporate accounting role. By nature you are a positive person who doesn’t get flustered easily. You remain calm under pressure, and logically work though problems from beginning to end. 

You are always willing to step in and help others within the team. Being a team player is vital for this role, as you work closely with others to achieve deadlines. You bring a sense of maturity to the business and are always looking to get a better understanding of your work. It goes without saying, a strong eye for detail, great customer service skills and an exceptional talent with Excel are a must for the ideal candidate.

This is a hands-on role with no direct reports, however you have some good leadership and communication skills and are potentially looking for a role where you could further your career as the company continues to grow.

Your skills and experience for this role need to include:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a corporate accounting role or financial services business
  • CA/CPA, or currently studying towards completion
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and modern information systems
  • A strong understanding of payroll 
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and work unsupervised
  • A thorough understanding of task allocation, adherence to established processes and coordination
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software and in particular Excel
  • Ability to work within an established Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) framework
  • Contribute to the improvement of systems and the progressive and dynamic environment
