    Our Company

We started with one truck and built it up to 650 prime movers over 42 years.

Our History

Ron Finemore Transport is 100% family owned and was established by Ron Finemore AO in 2004, following his acquisition of Wodonga-based company Lewington's Transport. In 2005, Smith's Transport in Orange was also purchased, forming the foundation of the company today.

The conception of Ron Finemore Transport signalled Ron Finemore's re-emergence into the transport industry, following the sale of Finemore Holdings in 2001; the company he built from the ground up during the 1960s.

With our head office located in Wodonga on the New South Wales/Victoria border, directly in the centre of the Sydney-Melbourne-Adelaide freight triangle, RFT provides regional and inter-capital city line-haul road transport services across four major operating divisions; general freight, liquid freight, temperature-controlled, and bulk freight.

Our Wodonga office is the resource base for all of Ron Finemore Transport's regional distribution, interstate freight services and capital city logistics, and provides fleet maintenance services, while also acting as the national centre for sales and administration.

Recent upgrades to the Wodonga base have seen the construction of a new operations centre, and addition of training and truck wash facilities.

Our $9 million custom-design operations base in Orange, in the heart of Central-Western New South Wales, provides vehicle maintenance and warehousing services, while regional hubs in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, and Wacol Queensland support our logistical network, and allow us to continue providing a consistent and reliable standard of customer service.

With a fleet of more than 250 prime movers, and upwards of 500 pieces of trailing equipment, travelling over 50 million kilometres annually, we maintain a strong safety culture, supported by industry best practice compliance accreditations.

Today,  Ron Finemore Transport is focused in two major segments of the transport and logistics industry: Food and Energy.  This incorporates all forms of ambient and refrigerated general freight such as food and produce, as well as liquids including fuel and bulk haulage such as grain and feed.

More than 500 people are employed by Ron Finemore Transport, including drivers, internal maintenance workshop crews, operational and administration staff. Many of the current senior managers, drivers and support staff originally worked for Finemore Holdings; demonstrating the high level of employee satisfaction and care that exists within the company.
